NorthStarDb pull-down menus give access to many features without cluttering the interface with a lot of buttons.
Those familiar with FileMaker will recognize that these are not the standard FileMaker menus. NorthStarDb menus give a planned set of menu options for each screen. These menus include quick access to needed functions and key combinations to allow quick entry of data with minimal “mousing around.” Like the interface options, some menu options may be presented or hidden based on interface choice.
A combination of quick keys, on screen icons and pull down menus make many tasks quick to accomplish with few keystrokes.
The Pay / Pledge pull down menu allows quickly adding a new pledge or payment.
Key combinations allow then actions without actually pulling down the menu.
The quick find groups are also available from the Groups pull down menu. The actual words on the Groups menu are user defined in Settings to match your chosen names for the groups.
ADD NEW CONTACT From the INSERT pull down menu will let you add a new contact to your database.
Note that many pull down menu items have quick keys. Inserting a new
contact can allow be started by the key combination Ctrl-A (that is
holding down the CTRL key an pressing the letter A).
The File pull-down menu offers a few special NorthStarDb options.
NOTE -
After you have changed to the standard FileMaker menu “New Record” and “Duplicate Record” should not be used in NorthStarDb. These raw FileMaker commands will create incomplete records.
